I was digging around looking for a baby food bar recipe the other day and came across this recipe in mom’s cupboard. I’m going to change the recipe a bit because I just think Franks wouldn’t pair well with cabbage. We’ll use bratwurst instead.
What You Need:
1 medium cabbage, chopped
1 small pepper
2 Tablespoons oil
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
16 ounces tomato paste
1 medium onion
3 cloves garlic
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 pound bratwurst, cooked and chopped
1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
What To Do:
Chop cabbage and cook 7 minutes covered in a small amount of water. In a 10 inch skillet, saute onions, pepper and garlic in oil until tender but not brown. Stir in spices. Add bratwurst, tomato paste and hot sauce. Drain cabbage and reserve 1/2 cup liquid. Stir cabbage and reserved liquid into bratwurst. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until cabbage is tender. Serve this with a side dish of pasta or rice.
