When you take road trips, make time to stop at local cafe’s and diners. This is where you will find the local tastes, flavors and cultures.
One of the first cafe’s Taby and I visited together in the mid-west was Toni’s. Toni’s is a local restaurant in Havana, IL that offers something for everyone, with its large menu, tall dessert cooler and breakfast served all day. I’m reminded of a small truck stop, when I think of Toni’s – and believe me this is not a bad thing.
Taby and I are not early risers and we favor places that offer breakfast all day. In our pre-vegetarian days, we found a tasty dish at Toni’s that satisfied our carnivorous taste buds.
After examining the menu we were delighted to find a fully loaded breakfast skillet. (My memory fails me but I think it’s called the Farmers Skillet.) This scrumptious dish is stacked with all things mid-west breakfast; sliced and fried potatoes, sausage, bacon, sauteed onions and peppers. Then this is topped with eggs made the way you want them and covered with cheese. Then best part about this skillet is you can modify it to suit your individual tastes! Simply put, it’s awesome.
Whether you have kids, are by yourself or require coffee in and IV drive like I do, Toni’s in Havana, IL can cater to you.
